Abstract: In this session, we will discuss the texts of the Portuguese philosopher Agostinho da Silva (1906-1994) on Islam, Sufism (Islamic mysticism), al-Andalus and “Fifth Empire” in a perspective of Philosophy of Religion and Spirituality. It will also be proposed a comparative reading between the thought of Agostinho da Silva and other Portuguese authors, such as Antero de Quental and Fernando Pessoa, who reflected on some of these issues.

Abstract (in Portuguese): Nesta sessão, vamos discutir, numa perspetiva de Filosofia da Religião e da Espiritualidade, os textos do filósofo português Agostinho da Silva (1906-1994) sobre Islão, Sufismo (misticismo islâmico), al-Andalus e Quinto Império. Será ainda proposta uma leitura comparativa entre o pensamento de Agostinho da Silva e outros autores portugueses, como Antero de Quental e Fernando Pessoa, que refletiram sobre algumas das referidas questões.
